Spring Wardrobe Challenge 2012

It’s time to make this challenge official. Here’s the lowdown:

I’m determined to step out of my black and whites and into some bold colors. I’m looking for berry reds, lemon yellows, and bright teals! To balance these bold colors, I’ll be adding a cool grey and cream to the mix.

Fresh, sweet, and bright!

To see what’s inspiring me, check out my Spring Wardrobe Inspiration board on Pinterest!

I spent some time yesterday sketching my wardrobe ideas that I’ll share with you later this week. I’ll be making up 8 garments:

  • 1 dress
  • 1 pair of pants
  • 1 mini skirt
  • 1 wild card
  • 4 blouses

  1. Great plan, you have all my moral support! 🙂

  2. wow thats a great lineup!

  3. You are so good! My challenges are usually involving actually finishing something- I envy your ability to carry out a plan!

  4. YAY how exciting!! 🙂

LOL I have a spring wardrobe plan but it’s lofty, unorganized and probably totally unrealistic LOL – i really should pare it down and make it do-able 🙂

  5. Ooh, love these colors! I’m terrible at planning and always end up just winging it (or more likely, flying by the seat of my pants!), but I do love seeing everyone else’s plans! Looking forward to seeing some of these things made up!

  6. I love this palette! I am also trying to move away from the black and whites-oh, its so difficult! They are just so versatile and always look so sophisticated! I can’t wait to see what you’ve got planned!

  7. Love the colors…Minus the cream and those are my spring colors….but talks were ALWAYS in my closet because they’re my favorite color.

  8. exciting! I know you want to do more colors this season but I wanted to say that I REALLY loved the neutral tones for your winter wardrobe. seriously, i just wanted to steal all the stuff you made last season. I also love these colors, too, so I expect to have some major stitch envy in the coming months!

  9. 8 garments by end of April?! Holy mackerels. That is incredible. Can’t wait to see what you come up with!

  10. These colours are gorgeous, I am totally excited to see what you come up with! The last challenge was really enjoyable, especially playing with the textures which wasn’t something I had seen as a specific target before.

    • Thank you! I really enjoyed exploring textures but I wish I had gone further with it. I mentioned this on my wrap up but I think having only one theme or focus would have allowed me to do that. I’d like to come back to texture in another challenge though – maybe next fall or winter.

  11. I see you’ve already started with the sketches. Good luck!
I am trying to give myself a similar challenge, so I have a question: how do you decide how many items to sew and which? Do you plan by activities or by what you’d like to have? Do you remove existing items from your wardrobe?

  12. Oooh Lizz I love, love, love these colours together – I can imagine picking three (or four) to wear together. Now pinned to my Spring Pinterest board! Thanks for posting sweetie!
