Two Books

Image

I’ve had my eye on these books for a while and finally picked them up this week. I already have the first two volumes of the Pattern Magic series so it was only a matter of time before I bought Volume 3. The other, Drape Drape, is on of those books that I always thumb through at the store but have never purchased because I’m just a hair too big on the size chart. I started thinking though that the designs have so much volume that I could fit into most. I have the first one on my tracing table as we speak so we’ll see!

Do you have these books? Have you made anything from them?

  1. Cool! I haven’t had a chance to see these in person, but I’ve seen some interesting things from other people’s blogs.

  2. I recently bought the Drape Drape book as well! Isn’t it fabulous! The killer for me was that the book included actual patterns. Awesome!

  3. I have both the drape drape books. I’ve made a few things from each. They are really fun to do – some more challenging than others. I hope you have fun!

  4. I’ve been considering purchasing Drape Drape myself, but like you am right at the top end of the sizing. Plus I haven’t been able to find many pics of items others have made from it. Think I might go for it though!

  5. I can’t wait to see what you think of these. They look like fab books

  6. i have the drape drape books – the styles are VERY forgiving so I think you’ll be fine. Which one are you making? Can’t wait to see!

  7. hmmm, i might need to add these to my collection.

  8. Wow, looking forward to seeing the things these inspire you to make 🙂

  9. Ooohh I LOOOOVE books! I haven’t bought one in awhile but the last one I got was Shape Shape, so it totally reminded me of that when you named yours! 🙂 Even if the sizing in Japanese pattern or sewing books is on the small side, I feel confident that they can be altered just like any other pattern – and you’re right, many of them have a fair bit of ease and will fit you anyway 🙂

I’d love to see some peeks at the insides of those; particularly the garments you’re thinking of making! 🙂

  10. Yes and yes, and they’re an interesting/ fun way to play with patterns and fabric! I’m pretty excited to see what your make looks like-veryone seems to have done such great variations on these patterns.

  11. Yes and no. I purchased these books when I just came to Japan, I was absolutely fascinated by styles and techniques. But at the time, I did not consider my level was good enough. It’s definitely something on my list for this year.
Can’t wait to see what you’ll make!

  12. I really want to try out the Drape Drape books but so far only find international sellers. They seem like perfect summer clothes to me!
